Faith Formation

School Age Faith Formation

We recommend enrollment in Children’s Faith Formation when the child is in kindergarten and continuing throughout High School. This provides the best foundation for proper reception of the sacraments at the appropriate ages, and encourages lifelong catechesis.
Immaculate Conception - Wexford and St Ann St Joseph - Harpers Ferry have combined their Faith Formation Classes which are held in Harpers Ferry.

Protection of Children Curriculum
According to the mandate of the Archdiocese of Dubuque the Protection of Children Curriculum must be offered yearly. Parents have the option of "opting out" of their children participating in this curriculum. Watch for newsletters pertaining to this curriculum to be emailed to you or hard copies taken home if email is not available.

Adult Faith Formation
Various sessions are offered during Advent and Lent for continuing growth in our Catholic faith.

Parent Component
The Church is very clear about the importance of parent involvement  in the religious formation of children. “Parents are the first and most important educators of their children, and they also possess a fundamental competency in this area: they are educators because they are parents.” From this, it is apparent that the church recognizes the tremendous influence of parents in the life of their children. Therefore, it is up to parents, with the assistance of the parish community, to introduce your children to the person of Jesus Christ and to help foster an intimacy with Him as they grow and mature in the faith. Immaculate Conception is dedicated to assisting you in fulfilling this most important task.

Therefore, at least one parent of those enrolled in the Sacrament Preparation classes is required to attend parent meetings. These meetings will occur simultaneously with your child’s session and will ultimately help provide you with the tools necessary for successfully passing on the Catholic faith to your children. Please be advised that this is a parish requirement and that opting out may delay the sacrament process for your child.
